Hardie Grant

Hardie Grant is an independent publishing and media business working with authors and brands to create high-quality books, magazines, websites and content across platforms.
At Southpaw, we conducted workshops and a landscape review identify improvements to both the corporate and publishing parts of the website. I lead the design on the publishing site which needed to evolve from a basic listing of their publication which was tricky to navigate through, to a more traditional e-commerce platform that better celebrates their high quality titles and offering purchasing options.
The navigation was overhauled to fall in line with similar e-commerce and publishing websites and to accommodate better discovery options, allowing customers to navigate by category, author or publishers including detailing each title with the imprint.
The homepage was an opportunity to dial up the character of featured titles, with hero products inheriting the colour schemes of the eye catching cover designs that also complemented the black and white brand colours - adding colour across the site.
Modular product grids were used to effect with the ability to feature certain product cards using great product photography that would stand out and push new books. Collections and categories were displayed in groups, showcasing the latest 3 within each section.
There were additional components built to really hero features and authors - taking advantage of great product photography used for collections, and galleries within product pages.
